The NSRC is a division of Auburn University’s Center for Children, Youth, and Families.  The NSRC’s primary objective is to provide information linking family science research on stepfamilies and best practices in work with couples and children in stepfamilies.  Resource for stepfamilies can be found at their website.

Single Parent Advocate is a non-profit organization committed to educating, equipping and empowering single parents with resources, practical assistance, emotional encouragement and social networking to better their lives, and those of their children.


Single Parents Alliance Of America


Provides resources for single parents via web.  Requires membership, which is free.


Strengthening Families Georgia


Strengthening Families Georgia represents a multi-disciplinary partnership of nearly 50 national, state and local, and public and private organizations dedicated to embedding five research-based Protective Factors into services and supports for children and their families.

The primary SFG goal is that all agencies, organizations and individuals serving families with young children will embed the SFG Framework into systems, programs, services and activities.

The five factors of the SFG Framework are:

  • Parental Resilience
    • Parents Can Bounce Back
  • Social Connections
    • Parents Have Friends
  • Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development
    • Parents Know How Children Grow and Learn
  • Concrete Support in Times of Need
    • Parents Know Where to Turn for Help

    • Children Learn How to Talk About and Handle Feelings
