The Georgia Writers Museum focuses on promoting the rich, literary heritage of the state.  Of the 46 authors in the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame, nine are from within 30 miles of Putnam County.  Permanent exhibits honor the three most famous local authors: Alice Walker, Flannery O’Conner, and Joel Chandler Harris.  Works and artifacts of the other authors will be featured in the museum on a rotation basis.

Memory Lane Classic Cars is a museum that features over 100 top quality cars.  The cars range from a 2005 Mustang GT 340 to “Eleanor,” which is the gray 545 hp Shelby GT 500 used in the movie “Gone Ins 60 Seconds”

The Old School History Museum is housed in four classrooms of the original 1916 Eatonton School, now the home of the Plaza Arts Center.  Exhibits include a vintage drugstore complete with marble-topped soda fountain, a reproduction of the turn-of-the-century downtown Eatonton, a history gallery that guides visitors from the early Indian culture of the area of 20th Century history, and a historic classroom restored to its early 1900’s condition.

The Uncle Remus Museum strives to educate visitors about the life and work of Joel Chandler Harris using historic storytelling, period artifacts, dioramas of the more famous Uncle Remus character, local history during Harris’ formative years, and informative tours.
